When a pet dies you are left feeling that you have lost your best friend and an important member of the family, you will no doubt feel very sad and even lonely.
Sometimes it helps to share your feelings with someone who knows from personal experience how upsetting the loss of a pet can be, and is able to console and help you with what to do next. As part of our Pet Service we can put you in contact with a Pet Bereavement Councillor through PBSS.
PBSS (Pet Bereavement Support Service) is run by two charities, The Blue Cross and SCAS (Society for Companion Animal Studies).
This service was launched in 1994 and has helped thousands of pet owners of all ages to get through the loss and trauma of losing a much loved pet.
The PBSS offers support through its confidential telephone and email service, a network of trained volunteer befrienders are available to provide a listening ear.
The support line is open 7 days a week 8.30am to 8.30pm with an answerphone outside these hours, to make contact you can call the following freephone number 0800 096 6606 or alternatively email email@example.com or visit The Blue Cross website www.bluecross.org.uk
